Boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard lists his $52M luxury home in Los Angeles

The custom-built mansion that boxing champion Sugar Ray Leonard and his wife Bernadette have resided in for more than 20 years has been put on the market. The gated 16,773 square foot main home, which has seven bedrooms, and a two-story guest house are both included in the $51.995 million asking price for the two-acre estate in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Public data indicate that this would break price records by a significant margin because the most expensive public sale ever recorded for the Pacific Palisades was a 15,642-square-foot home that sold in 2018 for $33.875 million. Since at least July of this year, Leonard’s house has been on the market off the multiple listing service; nonetheless, the pair only made it publicly available for sale last week.

The old world European-style residence was created by celebrity architect Richard Landry and boasts ivy-covered walls, including multiple curved walls with fully operable doors in a palladian design. On the wings that extend from the house’s central circle, full-glass rectangular doors are placed on either side of these. The solarium’s stone floors, along with those in other rooms of the house, are imported from Jerusalem. Six imported fireplaces from Europe add to the design overall.

A living room, with vaulted ceilings, shows off more of the European touches, with an upper row of arched windows and a loggia-style anteroom that provides a transitional space between the indoors and outdoors.

Upstairs a small sitting room, with one of the home’s six fireplaces imported from Europe, looks out onto mountain views.
