Selena Gomez is a chameleon, juggling music, television, film, and, most recently, fashion: she was selected the new face of Coach late last year, a role that will almost certainly include design. Gomez, too, is a wardrobe shape-shifter, frequently straddling the line between youthful and soigné at the drop of a hat. She recently completed three wardrobe quick-changes in less than 24 hours without skipping a beat.
After arriving in New York in a sultry rocker airport outfit, the singer appeared on Saturday morning in what could be termed the ideal weekend uniform. She wore kicky Re/Done cropped flares with a mohair striped sweater top from Alexa Chung’s (very) new fashion line, always one step ahead of the curve. Mansur Gavriel suede shoes provided a complementary color and texture contrast, while a JW Anderson cross-body purse freed her hands to enjoy an ice cream cone with pals in Hell’s Kitchen.
Hours later, she met artist Petra Collins for dinner at Park Side in Queens, dressed in a vintage floral minidress and carrying the same purse. Giuseppe Zanotti peep-toes elevated the wrap silhouette into after-dark territory, and the platform heel was perfect for what Gomez had planned for the rest of the evening. She wore a David Koma sleeveless shift dress with metal and ribbon details to a party in Brooklyn. She didn’t pause to change her accessories, since when your bag and shoes can get you through the night in style, why bother?
