ESPN reports that Tyson Futy and Oleksandr Usyk’s undisputed heavyweight championship bout is now scheduled for February in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The fight was originally scheduled for December 23, but on Saturday night in Riyadh, Fury lost a harder-than-expected fight against former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.
The 35-year-old was left hurt and wounded after winning a highly anticipated fight of the year in a dubious fashion.
Usyk confronted Fury in the ring to set up their match once the decision was made public.
After the decision was made, Usyk entered the ring and declared, “I’m ready to fight on December 23.” WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury stated, “Let’s go now if you want.” “”
Ngannou earned a lot of credit for his impressive performance in his very first professional boxing match, but Fury prevailed by split decision with scores of 94-95, 96-93, and 95-94.
After his crossover bout, Fury was knocked down in the third round and was left with cuts and bruises.
On the other hand, he maintained that nothing could prevent him from facing Oleksandr Usyk in a heavyweight fight on December 23.
Fury argued, “I’ve only got some surface bruising,” despite severe purple bruises surrounding his injured left eye.
“There was a minor head collision and a few punches, but nothing significant—no serious injuries.”
The WBA, IBF, and WBO of Ukraine had reached an agreement with Morecambe’s WBC heavyweight champion to challenge for all the titles.
He answered, “I leave all that to my team; I don’t get involved,” in response to a direct question about whether December 23 was still planned.
