Mr. Michael Leiters, CEO of McLaren Automotive, revealed the brand’s newest automobile model, the McLaren Solus GT, to speed aficionados during the 2022 Monterey automobile Week event. This is an astonishing outcome of the process of transforming a concept model in a video game into a masterpiece dedicated to real-world racing.
The McLaren Solus GT was inspired by the McLaren Ultimate Vision Gran Turismo concept car, which debuted in 2017. Some aspects from this design were used on the 15-unit limited edition McLaren Saber model sold exclusively in the United States.
In keeping with the concept’s ethos, the car is designed with a 1-seat closed cockpit positioned in the center of the body, in accordance with the company’s design philosophy of “Everything For A Reason.” McLaren. This allows the driver to enjoy a sensation similar to that of the McLaren Racing Formula One cars. Using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) technology and wind tunnel aerodynamics research, every aspect is meticulously calculated.
The Solus GT, like every McLaren produced in the last 40 years or so, has a carbon fiber monocoque chassis design. The single-seat cockpit and production-based engineering process, on the other hand, demanded a more specialized approach, including experience from both the professional and commercial racing sectors. As a result, the design of the McLaren Solus GT is more race-inspired than that of other McLaren Automotive models.
A 5.2L naturally aspirated V10 engine with a maximum capacity of 840 horsepower and a maximum torque of 650 Nm powers the Solus GT. A 7-speed sequential transmission designed specifically for the vehicle is paired with this engine. The McLaren Solus GT can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and reach a top speed of more than 322 km/h. The Solus GT, despite weighing less than 1,000 kg, can generate up to 1,200 kg of downforce on the road.
When equipped with racing seats designed tо the driver’s bоdy standards, FIA standard racing cоstumes, helmets, HANS head and neck prоtectоrs, and training prоgrams, McLaren will prоvide a pure speed experience. exclusively accоrding tо the needs оf the оwner оf this super prоduct. Cоllectоrs can wоrk with the McLaren Special оperatiоns (MSо) department tо change cоlоrs, patterns, materials, and sо оn tо create a truly unique vehicle.
McLaren has stated that only 25 Solus GTs will be produced, with all of them already sold. Furthermore, the car comes with a separate set of accessories such as repair tools, jacks, and a radio communication system… This car model will also be the subject of special events organized by the brand. The McLaren Solus GT is currently in the final stages of development, and the first units will be delivered in 2023.
