How normal car transforms into cгаzy wild survivor car in Mad Max: Fury Road

The vehicles used in Mad Max: Fury Road are all made from a hodgepodge of real vehicles — both old and experimental — from all around the world.

Mad Max’s V8 Interceptor – Ford Falcon XB GT

Mad Max himself has the Interceptor — one of the least ridiculously modified vehicles. The Ford Falcon XB was an Australian-made car produced from 1973-1976, and a total of 211,971 vehicles were produced.

The Ford Falcon continued to be manufactured in Australia until Ford pulled out of Australia just a few years ago. In fact, a Ford XB GT Falcon Hardtop was used in the original 1973 Mad Max movie as Max’s Interceptor. Another two were also used as Main Force Patrol Interceptor vehicles in that film.

Immortan Joe’s Gigahorse – 1959 Cadillac Coupe DeVille

The Cadillac de Ville series ran from 1959 through 2005. In Mad Max Fury Road, we see the original 1959 edition. The Immortan Joe’s Gigahorse was created by welding a pair of Cadillac de Ville 1959’s bodies together.

Of course, it is very apparent that there is much more to the Gigahorse than just a pair of Cadillacs. It is also built on a truck chassis. And the wheels on the Gigahorse are certainly not Cadillac de Ville series standard-issue wheels! This vehicle is an awesome hodgepodge and one of the most memorable vehicles of the movie.

Imperator Furiosa’s “War Rig” – Tatra, Fleetmaster, And Beetle

Like many of the other vehicles we see in Mad Max Fury Road, the “War Rig” is a hodgepodge of various vehicles all hobbled together. We can count at least three vehicles (or parts of them) on the “War Rig”.

The truck or rig itself is a Tatra T815 and on it, we can see the bodies of a Volkswagen Beetle and a Chevy Fleetmaster. The Tatra T815 is a Czechoslovakian heavy truck that has been manufactured since 1983. They were originally designed for extreme off-road conditions, but some are now produced for more on-road conditions.

Plymouth Rock – 1937 Plymouth Sedan

The Plymouth Rock is a 1937 Plymouth Sedan that has been modified to look more like a porcupine than a car. It is wholly unrecognizable with all the spιkes on it. The Plymouth Rock also features prominently in the movie and is threatening to impale anyone who comes near the vehicle. Sometimes you have to admire some people’s artistic imagination.

Plymouth was a branch of Chrysler that was first founded in 1928 and stuck around through to 2001 when it became defunct. But seriously, who can see the Plymouth Sedan through the modifications of the Plymouth Rock?

Buggy #9 – 1970s Perentti (Corvette Duplicate)

Next on our list of incredible Mad Max vehicles is the War Boys’ Black coupe. This sleek vehicle is the 1970s Perentti that was once built and modified in Australia. In the 1970s, some C3 Corvettes’ bodies were modified by a company in Australia. The end result was the Australian Perentti.

In the movie Mad Max Fury Road, the original 308 hp engine was removed to replace it with a cooler and more powerful V8 engine. The car gets its name from the Perentie — a type of Komodo Dragon look-alike lizard that lives in Australia.

The Peacemaker – 1971–78 Chrysler Valiant Charger, Ripsaw

The Peacemaker is The Bullet Farmer’s tracked vehicle in Mad Max. It has the frame of a Chrysler Valiant Charger mounted on it. But if you look closer, it is basically a Ripsaw. These vehicles have a top speed of 65 mph and are fitted with a 750 hp engine.

The coolest thing about the Ripsaws is that they are actually experimental vehicles for the US Army. The Ripsaw is an unmanned ground combat vehicle designed and built by Howe & Howe Technologies. So one day we might actually get to see Peacemaker working for the Army on the battlefield!

Doof Warrior’s Doof Wagon – MAZ 543

The Doof Wagon is the “morale machine” of Immortan Joe’s militia party. This vehicle is totally awesome as once again it’s based on a military vehicle. This time the iconic MAZ 543 “Uragan” truck of the Soviet Union.

It was designed to carry the Soviet Union’s SCUD missiles (the SS-1с Scud B (9K72 Elbrus) system). It was also adapted for a range of other purposes including; to be a water truck, a platform for a BM-30 Smerch Multiple rocket launcher, and a radar truck. It is even employed to carry Russia’s modern air defense missile, the S-300PMU-2.

Nux’s Chevrolet Coupe – 1934 Chevrolet 5 Window Coupe

Nux’s vehicle is the Chevrolet Coupe. It is a modification of a 1934 Chevrolet 5 Window Coupe. Apparently, the official website of the movie has it listed as a Ford 5 Window Deuce Coupe. But industry nerds assure us that this is incorrect.

Four of Nux’s vehicles were built for the movie. As part of their modifications, a cross-section was added so that a man could be tethered as a “blооd bag”. It’s this car that we see Max Mad tied to as a blооd bag before he manages to escape and take over the War Rig.

In summary, the vehicles in Mad Max are all made from real vehicles from all around the world — both old and experimental.
