Taylor Swift and her boyfriend Travis Kelce will both be in Los Angeles this week, but the NFL star will not accompany Swift to the 2024 Golden Globes.
Swift, 34, is expected to attend the 81st annual ceremony on Sunday at the Beverly Hilton Hotel because she is one of this year’s nominees.
She was nominated in the new Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category for her concert film Eras Tour, which has earned more than $250 million worldwide in less than three months.
On the same night, Kelce, 34, and the Kansas City Chiefs will face the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium, where Swift performed six sold-out shows in August.
Despite the fact that the big game will take place before the CBS awards show, a source told Page Six that Kelce plans to return to Kansas City with his teammates immediately after to prepare for the NFL playoffs.
This means Kelce will miss out on the red carpet and the Golden Globes after-parties.
Swift’s Eras Tour documentary could help her win her first Golden Globe.
It was filmed on a $15 million budget at one of Swift’s LA shows and was released in theaters on October 13.
The nearly three-hour film follows the show from start to finish, giving fans who missed out on tickets a chance to experience the magic.
However, Swift faces stiff competition in the new award category, including box office hits Barbie and Oppenheimer.
Swift’s Golden Globe nomination this year is her fifth in her career, following four nominations for Best Original Song over the last decade.
Carolina for the film ‘Where the Crawdads Sing’ (2023), Beautiful Ghоst for ‘Cats’ (2020), Sweeter Than Fiction for ‘One Chance’ (2014), and Safe & Sound for ‘The Hunger Games’ (2013) are among the nominated songs.
Swift attended her first three nomination ceremonies but was noticeably absent from last year’s.
In 2020, she was joined on the red carpet by her now-ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn, but they walked separately. After six years of dating, the former couple divorced in early 2023.
Swift also appeared as a presenter alongside Idris Elba at the 2019 Golden Globes.
In terms of where Swift might be seated this year, Golden Globes executive producers Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner told Variety that she can be seated ‘wherever she wants to be.’
Though they’ll be apart on Sunday night, Swift and Kelce did ring in 2024 together over the weekend at a New Year’s Eve party in Kansas City, Missouri.

Friends shared several videos from the night, including one of Kelce’s close friends filming the room at midnight, when they inadvertently caught the couple kissing as the clock struck midnight.
Another guest filmed themselves in the midst of the festivities, with Travis and Taylor smooching in the background for the duration of the video.
They partied the night away after Swift went to cheer on Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs to victory against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.
Swift arrived at Arrowhead Stadium in the same Chiefs jacket that Kelce had worn to the Christmas Day NFL game, which she was also attending. A closer inspection reveals that she has ‘Tay’ stitched into the sleeve of her version – a nickname Travis has previously used for her.
They’ve spent a lot of time together as the singer takes a break before embarking on another year of touring in 2024.
Kelce is currently in the midst of another exhausting NFL season, but he has at least two games in Kansas City on Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve, allowing him to spend more time at home than if the Chiefs were scheduled to play on the road.
The Chiefs won the AFC West on Sunday, giving Kelce yet another reason to celebrate after the game.
His team, the Suρer Bowl champions from last year, will finish the regular season next Sunday in Los Angeles against the Chargers before turning their attention to the playoffs.
Swift’s Eras Tour doesn’t resume until February, but if the Chiefs make it to the Suρer Bowl – in Vegas on February 11 – she may have to make a last-minute dash from Tokyo, where she will have just finished her first shows in 2024, to the west coast to support Kelce.
