Explore Canada’s Yoho National Park ecognized by UNESCO as world cultural heritage

Canada’s Yoho National Park (from the Cree word Yoho meaning fear or wonder) is located on the western slopes of the Rocky Mountains. In 1984, Yoho and three adjacent national parks including: Kootenay in British Columbia and Banff and Jasper in Alberta province, forming the Canadian Rockies, were recognized by UNESCO as world cultural heritage.

Although Yoho’s area is only 1,313km2, the smallest compared to other parks, it has a strong attraction with many moraine lakes, glaciers, waterfalls, majestic caves and is an ideal place to visit. adventure calendar.

Leaving Highway 1, we turned to the pass towards Takakkaw Falls, the most famous and majestic waterfall of the Canadian Rockies and second only to Niagara Falls in Canada. The feeling that always followed me throughout this journey was the overwhelming beauty of the Yoho River rushing at the foot of the pass, the endless green pine forests and the white snow-capped mountain peaks. Occasionally, at the edge of the forest, a herd of deer appears engrossed in grazing on grass.

Emerald lake – the place considered the heart of Yoho is a moraine lake, surrounded by many famous mountain ranges of Burgess and Wapta higher than 3,000m. Here, nature offers all four seasons. In spring, the leaves are budding, the snow has not yet melted, it still clings to the branches in beautiful layers like a fairy tale. In the summer, the glaciers in the mountains melt to form many streams and waterfalls, which is an opportunity for camping, boating, mountain climbing, horseback riding, fishing, picnics… Entering autumn, the lake surface is calm and the leaves change color. The colors and scenery are so lyrical and magical like paradise. And when winter comes, there is white snow everywhere, ideal for skiing and skating.

Located on a small hill along the lake is a high-class hotel and resort, designed entirely of pine wood and facing the lake. If you stay here, you will have afternoons walking around the lake, watching the sun gradually go down behind the jagged snow-white mountain peaks, in the evening sitting around the fire enjoying grilled salmon in a quiet space, listening to the calls. Herds of North American deer echoed. And waking up tomorrow morning, behind the glass window are clouds of fog that are melting, gradually revealing the vast lake surface, pine forests, mountains, the boat gliding gently…  imgA wooden house by Emerald Lake
