In the realm of mixed martial arts, Conor McGregor is without a doubt the most well-known opponent in the world. 

Despite the fact that he did not originate from a wealthy family and worked as a plumber in the past, he is now considered to be “notorious,” he does not care what other people think of him, he has had a wonderful career, and he is able to generate money.

A former featherweight and lightweight champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), McGregor has demonstrated his ruthlessness in the UFC throughout the larger part of the decade spanning from 2010 to 2019. In addition, he has won the UFC featherweight and lightweight championships. His current position in the UFC men’s pound-for-pound rankings is ten, and he is ranked four in the UFC lightweight rankings as of the fourteenth of July, 2020. 

In spite of the fact that he has only competed twice since 2016, Forbes ranked him as the 53rd highest-paid athlete in the world and the sixteenth highest-paid athlete in the world in 2020. His earnings were ranked among the top 100 celebrities in terms of earnings.

The boxing battle between McGregor and Floyd “Money” Mayweather was referred to as “The Money Fight” for the simple reason that it resulted in McGregor’s wealth increasing by $100 million while Mayweather’s wealth did not change.

MacGregor, on the other hand, was not always the one to have a smile on his face when he was a child. It was common for other children who were older than him to bully him when he was a youth in school. They used to make fun of him, and there were times when things ended up getting physical. 

At some point, Conor would figure out a strategy to avoid getting into fights and to get away from confrontation.

Things became so tense that he began carrying a heavy dumbbell in his school bag and used to keep the bag slightly open in case he needed a weapon to defend himself. He did this because he was concerned that he might need to defend himself. Thank goodness, a situation like that never got to happen. 

Over the course of his teenage years, McGregor worked as an apprentice plumber, a job that he detested to the point of indescribable hatred.  

In an interview with The Guardian, McGregor even admitted that his time spent working as a plumber was a dreadful experience:  

To put it simply, I was not cut out for it. I woke up at five in the morning and walked in the dark and freezing cold till I reached the highway. I waited for a guy I didn’t even know to take me to the location where I worked for twelve hours. After that, I was driven back to my house and walked home. Certainly, there are plumbers who are both skillful and devoted. However, I did not have any interest in plumbing.

Even if he does not believe that plumbing is not a major job, he is of the opinion that he was not destined to work in that field. 2008 was the year that he made the decision to leave the industry and pursue his ambition of being a boxer on a full-time basis. 

I agree. When I was working as a plumber, I suddenly quit my job and made the decision to pursue my desire of being a mixed martial artist full-time. I did this because I wanted to fulfill my passion. The other men on the construction site were getting up early in the morning and working late into the night, and I was aware that I did not want to be like them on that particular day. That kind of labor, you know, the kind that requires a hard hat, was not for me.

According to a rumor that is making the rounds on the internet, Conor McGregor was homeless when he first met the woman of his dreams, Dee Devlin. The narrative describes how she took him off the streets and placed him into her apartment.  

In spite of this, the report was found to be incorrect and was immediately disproved. During an interview with VIP Magazine, McGregor disclosed that the two individuals had first encountered each other in a club and were immediately drawn to one another. 

Having said that, Dee has always been one of the most crucial people behind the success of the mixed martial arts icon from the beginning.  

According to what Conor mentioned in an interview with Irish Mirror:  

“Over the course of our relationship, my girlfriend put in a lot of effort and remained by my side even when I had almost nothing available to me. The only dream I had was the one I was telling her about. Having the ability to pull her out of work, provide her with everything she has ever desired, and accompany her on her journeys across the world is something that fills me with pride. It helps me to keep going.”

Conor McGregor might not be the most pleasant person on the face of the earth. On occasion, he has been involved in issues that have caused his supporters to be taken aback, and he has had his fair share of these. 

McGregor will continue to have the affection and support of people from all walks of life because he is a man who worked hard to become one of the most fearless and talked-star athletes in the world. He gave everything he had to achieve this goal.
