12 of Taylor Swift’s chicest street style looks through the ‘Eras’: from her Zara top and floral Gucci shoes

Taylor Swift is well-known outside of music for her glamorous red carpet and stage looks. She does, however, have a strong street style, as evidenced by her years of strolling through New York. Swift appears to be fond of statement coats, patterned tights, and denim ensembles.

The Eras Tour songstress returned to the “summer skort” style this week, wearing it twice in New York. CNN even named it a “look of the week” due to its practical and fashionable appeal.

Here’s a look at her style evolution from the 2010s to today…

1. Preppy chic

Swift, 33, has been in the spotlight since the mid-2000s, but her street style really began to shine in the 2010s.

Swift, for example, wore a Ralph Lauren navy cable-knit jumper with a ModCloth pleated yellow skirt on a November 2011 outing in New York City. Her academic-inspired look was finished with magenta Marc Jacobs kitten heels, red lipstick, and a blue Fendi purse that matched the sparkling 13 drawn on her hand.

2. Daring cut-outs

In particular, 2014 was a significant year for Swift’s fashion in preparation for her album 1989. She wore a lot of crop tops and miniskirts at the time, including this gray two-piece set from Alice + Olivia.

Her accessories, however, were what truly made her looks like the one above stand out. She wore Christian Louboutin’s bright pink pumps and carried a yellow Dolce & Gabbana Linda Tote bag.

3. The kitty ‘accessory’

On a September day in New York City, she carried her cat while dressed classically preppy. The “Love Story” singer tucked a white Free People top with lace sleeves into a plaid skirt from RD Style, finishing the look with a maroon pair of Tabbisocks sheer knee-highs.

Swift also wore black loafer pumps by & Other Stories and carried a green Dolce & Gabbana bag.

4. Stand-out coats

She wore a little black dress with a tan tattersall coat, sheer polka dot tights, and lace-up heeled Oxfords. Swift also carried a burgundy purse and wore a thin gold headband with a small bow.

5. Cute and tailored

By 2015, Swift had switched to tank tops and tailored shorts.

Swift wore an open-back tank top from Zara and black-and-white printed shorts from River Island on one outing in May 2015. To add a pop of color, she wore Pedro Garcia blue patent-leather heels, Swarovski sunglasses, and a Mary Katrantzou bag.

6. The rocker phase

Swift’s street style did, however, go through a brief rocker phase in 2016. Not only did the musician cut her long locks in favor of a bleached bob, but she also wore edgier clothing for a short time.

In May 2016, she was photographed leaving a gathering at Anna Wintour’s home dressed in a plaid Louis Vuitton dress, chunky boots, and a leather jacket from the fashion house. She opted for a small black purse designed by Mark Cross as her only accessory.

7. Denim days

She eventually returned to bright colours and denim outfits. Swift walked around New York City in August 2016, wearing a pink Brandy Melville tank top under a Tularosa denim overall dress. She also wore a black Marni bag and Gucci’s flower-printed trainers.

8. Glam girl

She also hinted at her glamorous red-carpet style in her nighttime looks. Swift was photographed one evening in September 2016 wearing a black V-neck Aritzia bodysuit under a Related Apparel white miniskirt.

However, her accessories truly elevated the outfit. Swift wore Louise et Cie strappy sandals, a tan Aspinal of London clutch, and Adornmonde’s white choker necklace.

9. Playing with colour

A few days later, Swift donned one of her most colorful bleached-hair looks. Her striped, long-sleeved bodysuit was from PH5, and her pleated, burgundy miniskirt came from Urban Outfitters.

She completed the look with Michael Kors sunglasses, a Burberry bag, and Aquazzura platform, velvet sandals.

10. Carefree and cool

Swift’s street style began to shift in the summer of 2018, as she transitioned from her Reputation album cycle to Lover. In July of that year, she was photographed wearing a pinstriped Unravel Project shirt that hung off one shoulder and Gucci distressed denim shorts.

While her casual outfit, as well as her black leather Tod’s boots and Tommy Hilfiger bag, matched the dark aesthetic of her sixth studio album, her vibrant lipstick, wavy hair, and Miu Miu earrings foreshadowed the future.

11. Even more colour

Swift fully embraced the colorful aspect of her style in 2019. Swift stepped out in New York City wearing one of her most eccentric outfits to date, just days before the world premiere of her song “Me!”

It featured a floral Zimmermann dress, a red Mango blazer, and Rupert Sanderson sandals. Swift’s outfit, however, was highlighted by her pink-tinted hair and her Anya Hindmarch cat-printed purse.
