Selena Gomez maintained a courageous demeanor at the premiere of Emilia Perez at the Toronto Film Festival, following her recent disclosure that she is unable to have children

Selena Gomez put on a courageous front as she attended the premiere of her new film Emilia Perez on Monday, shortly after discussing her struggles with infertility.

Despite her recent revelations about her medical challenges, Gomez appeared cheerful and posed for photos with a smile upon arrival at the event.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Gomez shared, “Unfortunately, I can’t carry my own children. I have numerous medical issues that could endanger both my life and the baby’s. It’s something I’ve had to mourn.”

Gomez, who has Lupus—a chronic autoimmune disease—underwent a kidney transplant in 2017 and is currently on medication for bipolar disorder.

‘[But] I’m in a much better place with that. I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me,’ she said.

'I unfortunately can¿t carry my own children. I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby¿s in jeopardy'

‘I probably wouldn’t be here [if Teefey hadn’t been adopted]. I don’t know what her life would’ve been like. She and I are very thankful for how life played out.’

And however it happens, her adoring boyfriend Benny Blanco is on board.

Selena began dating the music producer about a year ago, right around the time her summer 2023 hit, Single Soon, was released.
