Selena Gomez is a multi-talented artist, international pop star, Emmy-nominated actress and beauty mogul. However, she doesn’t seem to be interested in a music career.
“I really feel like I only have one more album left in me. The older I get, the more I like something steady,” the Lose You To Love Me singer said.
Since she was a child, Selena Gomez set her sights on becoming “a serious actress”.
A music career came unexpectedly when Disney expressed interest in creating an album for Selena Gomez, along with the actress taking on the lead role in Wizards of Waverly Place in the late 2000s.
“I wanted to be an actress. I never intended to be a full-time singer,” Selena Gomez said.
Also in the podcast, Selena Gomez said that switching back and forth between music and acting took a toll, especially on her mental health.
While the Same Old Love singer admits that nothing forced her to choose between music and acting, she thinks one or the other will come up independently in the future. Selena Gomez is looking forward to relaxing because she’s tired.
This is not the first time the American artist has talked about her plans to retire from music. Previously, in an interview with Vogue magazine in 2021, Selena Gomez said she wanted to stop singing to focus on acting and resting.
She shared: “I think a lot of you have enjoyed my music and I’m very grateful for that but I think the last album will be different.
I’ll try it one last time before I retire from music.”
The story was quickly forgotten when Selena Gomez collaborated with British band Coldplay on the song Let somebody go in February 2022.
In August, Selena Gomez was featured on the remix of the song Calm down by Nigerian artist Rema.
